The Wanted were formed in 2009 through a mass audition, by Jayne Collins
the same woman who put together The Saturdays. They soon
started working on their debut album with producers Guy
Chambers
, Taio Cruz and Steve Mac. They all
share a house in South London. Their debut single, "All Time Low", was produced by Mac, and also
co-written by Ed Drewett. It was released on 25 July 2010, and
debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, remaining
in the Top 40 for 11 weeks. The band's
second single, "Heart Vacancy", written by Jonas Jeberg, Mich Hansen,
Wayne Hector and Lucas Secon was released on 17 October 2010. The Wanted
presented "The Wanted's Best Brit Boys Top 20" on 23 August on the 4Music
channel In
November 2010 the band opened up the Christmas song list for 4Music. The band
confirmed that their debut album would be self titled and it was released on 25 October 2010.
Also, The Wanted presented "The Wanted's Top 20 Pop Number Ones", their own
show, screened on the Viva music channel.


The Wanted announced in November 2010 that they would be touring for their
album. The concerts will be held in Wolverhampton, Nottingham, London,
Newcastle, Manchester, Brighton, Cardiff, Plymouth, Bournemouth, Glasgow,
Sheffield and Edinburgh.


In November 2010 they confirmed they had signed a record deal with American
label Def Jam and planned on releasing their album stateside at some stage in
2011.


The band performed their third single, "Lose My Mind", on The X Factor
on 28 November 2010.


In January 2011, The Wanted performed at the MakeMineMilk gig, in the UK.
They agreed to have their photograph on the MakeMineMilk website, with Siva
drinking a glass of milk and the rest of them with milk moustaches on. The band started working on their second studio album in January 2011.[11] They are
again working with Steve Mac,[12] and the
first single from the album, "Gold Forever" was released on 13 March 2011,[13] in aid of
Comic Relief.[14] It peaked
at number 3 in the UK Singles Chart.[15] The
second single from the album is "Lightning", which was written by Ed
Drewett
